an elegant garment

An elegant garment of silver and gold
truly a beauty, a wonder to behold
And yet flying free and quickly laid bare,
a single errant thread thin as a hair.
Correcting hands reach for the cloth
with a lover's touch, light as a moth.
Then is exposed not one but two
to fix only one simply will not do.
Searching hands kind and quick
find flawed transitions thin and thick.
Worse still, for now it seems
the silver, tarnished, no longer gleams.
Only one chore may save this glory,
let the scissors take back and tell the story.
Tarnished silver will slowly fall
leaving the gold whole and all.
New panels must then be sewn
before the garment's light is shown.
Through sweat, blood, and even tears
the elegant garment reappears.
Made of true silver and gold
truly a beauty, a wonder to behold.
